Book Review - LK Advani's Autobiography 'My Country, My Life'

Lal Krishna Advani is a prominent leader of the BJP. In fact, according to Vajpayee, he is the best known face of the BJP in the Indian political horizon. Advani life for more than eight decades of the Indian polity. From this perspective alone, his autobiography, "My country, my life," a significant contribution.

The book is comprehensive, covering life Advani about his day in Karachi before independence to the 21st Century. It is a large canvas and Advani has spent considerable time trying toThe facts as he sees it. Hardly an Austrian writer and journalist significant size has written an autobiography, with the exception of Nehru. Advani must therefore be supplemented for this step.

Advani's book makes interesting reading as it gives an insight into how the thought process led the Hindu social, and political party to the RSS on the introduction of the political outfit of the Jan Sangh. This party later transformed into the BJP. The first part of the book above all, hisPeriod in Karachi and the influence of the RSS on it makes interesting reading. He expressed his disappointment with the Congress party for its perceived failure to prevent partition and commends the work of the RSS during the difficult days of 1947 when India was on fire with the Hindu-Muslim riots. Advani also involving the bombing of 1947 in Karachi, where there were some Hindu Sindhi leaders.

Advani has not clarified his equation of Gandhi. He expressed the fact that heall due respect for the leader, but his analysis of Nehru and Indira Gandhi are instructive. He is critical of them.

The span of over a thousand pages, had at least 200 pages and the inherent loss content was not edited. After reading his book one can appreciate the brand of nationalism to Advani. His interpretation of the Shah Bano case and his Ram Rath Yatra and Ram temple in Ayodhya, which will led to a set of interesting case of the VP Singh governmentthey reflect the views of Advani and the BJP's Hindu party means (Bharatia Janta Party).

Advani did not come for all of his long association with the RSS (GOM Swayam Sevak Sangh) and the Hindu revivalist movement of the BJP party and the former Jan Sangh as a secularist. Nowhere in the book does not Advani seems to be anything but a nationalist. When he penning this book there was a chance he would be Prime Minister of India, therefore, possible that some of the parts were made inview. But this is not affecting the merits of the book. Reading it gives you an insight into the soul of one of the biggest Hindu leaders of the BJP in the present.

Advani became the Deputy Prime Minister in the BJP government led by Vajpayee. His friendship with Vajpayee will be clear when Vajpayee and Advani was the mentor's successor. However, Advani glosses on his role in the release of Masood Azar wanted terrorists in the aftermath of the kidnapping ofIndian Air Line level. Greater film is made in this value.

Also lacking are personal intimate details of personal life Adjani's. An autobiography is not a political testament was, however, including comprehensive privacy. This gap is not addressed in the book.

But the book is worth reading if only for the work of the spirit of the man who wanted to be the king know. Advani's defeat at the hustings, however, does not detract from the merit of theBook.
